O, Miami & Studios of Key West host Jose Marti performance, Key West, Feb. 2, 2019
Photos by Mark Hedden markhedden.com
Actor Ivan Lopez reprised his role as Cuban poet-revolutionary Jose Marti on the 166th anniversary of the icon's birthday in Key West. The ride started at 5 Brothers, then went through the cemetery where the crowd laid white roses at the martyr's monument. From there the celebration continued at La Te Da, a place Marti spoke when alive. Lopez recited poems in Spanish and English from a balcony to a crowd of about 200. The parade made its way down at Duval Street to the San Carlos Institute, where Lopez gave a speech originally given by Marti. Baconao the horse, was played superbly by Alegria.
