SoFloPoJo's Reading and Book Signing Series

Florida Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress,
​brings readers and writers together, promotes books, reading, and libraries, and celebrates the literary heritage of Florida.

Julie Marie Wade is the author of ten collections of poetry and prose, including Wishbone: A Memoir in Fractures, Small Fires, Postage Due, When I Was Straight, SIX, and Same-Sexy Marriage: A Novella in Poems. With Denise Duhamel, she wrote The Unrhymables: Collaborations in Prose, forthcoming in 2019. A recipient of the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Memoir and grants from the Kentucky Arts Council and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Wade teaches in the creative writing program at Florida International University and reviews regularly for Lambda Literary Review and The Rumpus. She is married to Angie Griffin and lives on Hollywood Beach.

Diane Thiel is the author of ten books of poetry, nonfiction and creative writing pedagogy, including Echolocations, Resistance Fantasies, The White Horse: A Colombian Journey, and Winding Roads: Exercises in Writing Creative Nonfiction, among others.  Thiel is also a widely published translator.  Her translation of Alexis Stamatis’s novel, American Fugue, received an NEA Award.  Thiel's work appears in many journals, is re-printed in over sixty major anthologies, and has been translated widely.  She has received numerous awards, such as a  2010 PEN Translation Award, the Robert Frost and Robinson Jeffers Awards, the Nicholas Roerich Award, and she was a Fulbright Scholar.  Thiel received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brown University and has taught undergraduate and graduate creative writing for twenty years.  She also developed and taught in several writer-in the schools programs over the years.  She is Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of New Mexico.  

Annik Adey-Babinski, author of OK COOL NO SMOKING LOVE PONY , has received fellowships from the Banff Center and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.  

Cathleen Chambless, author of the poetry collection Nec(Romantic) is from Miami, Florida. She graduated with her MFA in poetry from F.I.U. Her work has appeared in M.P.C.'s 10 Cent Journal , the anthology A Touch of Saccharine, Storm Cycle 2014 & 2015, The Electronic Encyclopedia of Experimental Literature, Jai-Alai, The Mind[Less] Muse, Fjords Review, Grief Diaries, Wussy Mag, and she was a poetry finalist for the Bellingham Review's 2014 Parallel Award for poetry. Her work also appears in Reading Queer: Poetry in a Time of Chaos, Anhinga Press 2018.
