SOUTH FLORIDA POETRY JOURNAL
Jonathan Rose    Miami Beach       (Peter Hargitai)
Six poems

Lettered

Puritan New England' Hester Prynne
In her day, wore an "A" for unspeakable sin.
Now with sex extramarital, kinky, and group,
The fashion would be to wear alphabet soup.

first published in. South Florida Poetry Review

Indecisive

Hamlet, the Dane,
Was a royal pain.
It would not have meant a jot to me
Had he determined "not to be.”

for published in Poetic Justice

Vested

Thomas Howard, alias Jesse James,
Was a businessman, despite contrary claims;
Bullish on banks for most financial gains,
He was the first to speculate with trains.

first published in  Rhyme Time

Unforeseen

William Sidney Porter
Was a clever retorter;
Through his briefest tale you'd go twisting and bending
To be stunned with a wonderful O. Henry ending.

Originally published in Writer’s Info

Lost

Amelia Earhart, renowned flier,
Prided herself as a "do-or-dier;"
We know her position when she last flew,
But that was one time she did not "do."

Originally published in Rhyme Time

Deceptive

Poet-theologian John Donne
Ostensibly would accede to no fun,
But, I have it on reliable account,
Themes for his sermons came while on the mount.
