South Florida Poetry Journal SoFloPoJo Guidelines Poetry, Visual Arts, Video, Interview With A Poet, Reviews
SoFloPoJo reserves the right to edit, alter, delete, or republish online or in print any work it accepts for publication. By submitting your work, unsolicited or solicited, to SoFloPoJo you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
POETRY: For the special November 2019 Rejection Project send 1 poem that has been rejected by other journals—Please tell us the journa(s) that rejected it—to firstname.lastname@example.org with REJECTION in the subject line. Paste the poem in email body or use an attachment. SoFloPoJo will choose only 1 poem from among the poems submitted and will publish it as the lead poem of the November 2019 issue.
For submissions NOT for the Rejection Project:
Send 3-5 unpublished poems to email@example.com. Send your best work. Please state that the poems are unpublished. Please tell us where you live. Include a brief cover letter and a brief third-person bio. BIOS: Italicize names of magazines and journals in which you've been published. We reserve the right to edit bios. Use an attachment if submitting prose-poems or anything with special formatting. Please tell us where you heard about SoFloPoJo. Please put poetry submission in the subject line. Sorry, we cannot pay for your work.
We hope poets whose work appears in SoFloPoJo will add that to their bios.
Please be aware that poems with longer line lengths and/or have a staggered or unusual line format may need alteration to work. Please see an issue or two for examples. We try our best to have work appear as the author wishes.
Please do NOT bold, italicize, use all caps, or center titles or poems. Please use a standard font such as Times New Roman or similar.
Once accepted, we encourage you to send an audio file of your poem(s) to Co-Publisher and Managing Editor Michael O'Mara at firstname.lastname@example.org. The audio file should include the title, the poem itself, and your name if you wish, but nothing else. Please do not include bios in the audio file. All audio files will be converted to MP3 format for publication. We can easily convert MP4, m4a, wav, and wma formats to MP3.
RE-PRINTS: SoFloPoJo will consider re-prints but query before sending. Re-prints are defined as poetry that has appeared in book form only and has not been published in print or online in literary journals or anthologies of any kind. Decisions to re-print are made on a case by case basis.
Other than corrections in spelling or punctuation, we cannot make changes after acceptance, or accept updated versions.
You will be notified within three months.
By submitting to SoFloPoJo you agree that your submission is your original unpublished work. Posting on social media is considered publication. SoFloPoJo may add your email address to its contact list. If you do not wish to be on our email list, please inform us.
Simultaneous submissions are okay, but please notify if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
SoFloPoJo retains First North American Serial Rights, and the right to archive or reprint your work. In addition to publishing your work in the South Florida Poetry Journal we may feature it on our YouTube or Facebook Channels. Following publication, all rights revert back to the author. Please credit South Florida Poetry Journal or SoFloPoJo as the place where your work first appeared.
