South Florida Poetry Journal SoFloPoJo Guidelines
South Florida Poetry Journal - SoFloPoJo- seeks to showcase an eclectic range of voicesfrom the Fierce Intangible World.
POETRY: Send no more than 3-5 unpublished poems in the body of an e-mail- please state that the poems are unpublished. Include a brief cover letter and a bio. Send to lenny.dellarocca@SoFloPoJo.com. Use an attachment if submitting prose-poems or anything with special formatting. We however, do prefer straight-forward left-justified line breaks as opposed to all kinds of spaces, centered lines and stanzas. Also, please say where you heard about SoFloPoJo. Please put POETRY SUBMISSION IN SUBJECT LINE. Unfortunately, we cannot pay for your work, we wish we could.
Please do NOT bold, italicize, capitalize or center titles or poems.
Other than corrections in spelling or punctuation, we cannot make changes after acceptance, or accept updated versions.
By submitting any work to SoFloPoJo you agree that your submission is your original unpublished work. Posting on social media is considered publication.
RE-PRINTS: SoFloPoJo will consider re-prints but query before sending. Re-prints are defined as poetry that has appeared in book form only and has not been published in print or online in literary journals or anthologies of any kind. Decisions to re-print are made on a case by case basis.
We prefer Times New Roman, 15-point if possible.
Include a short, third-person bio and please tell us where you live (not necessarily in your bio). We will gladly mention your past and upcoming publications in your bio. Italicize names of magazines and journals in which you've been published. We reserve the right to edit bios. If accepted, we encourage you to send an audio file of your poem(s) to Co-Publisher and Managing Editor Michael Mackin O'Mara at MMOMara@SoFloPoJo.com. The audio file should include the title and the poem itself and your name if you wish but nothing else. All audio files will be converted to MP3 format for publication.
Simultaneous submissions okay, but please notify if accepted elsewhere.
Send your best work.
All rights revert to the author but should your work appear at a later time in another publication, please credit first published in South Florida Poetry Journal or SoFloPoJo.
You will be notified within three months.
REVIEWS: SoFloPoJo publishes in-house reviews but will consider others, please query first.
ART & PHOTOGRAPHY: Send to lenny.dellarocca@SoFloPoJo.com - all images must be in jpg format. Please include a bio, titles of images and a short description of your work.
INTERVIEW WITH A POET: We interview three poets each month, they are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Each poet per edition is asked the same five questions. The questions change each month. IWAP is meant to fun and playful, but you may answer seriously if you choose. We require a photo for Interview With A Poet (headshot- preferably horizontal photo in jpg format) and a full, complete bio. Query first to Lenny DellaRocca at lenny.dellarocca@SoFloPoJo.com.
AUDIO & VIDEO: Performance/Slam, Spoken Word, or other vibrant poetry readings recorded on video may be sent to Co-publisher and Managing Editor Michael Mackin O'Mara at MMOMara@SoFloPoJo.com. We acceptM4V, MPG, MOV, WMV and most other standard video formats. We're looking for great and engaging poetry, well presented with attention to production values.
STORY TELLERS: SoFloPoJo seeks true stories by real people. Please state your name and the title of the story without an introduction in your recording. Send stories, photo of yourself and brief description of the story via email as an attachment or if too large, Drop Box or other file-sharing app to lenny.dellarocca@SoFloPoJo.com.
